Prison sentences…extensions of arrest
The judge sentenced Shawkat Abdulrahman for 8 months of actual imprisonment, a suspended probation of 6 months for three years in addition to a 3600-NIS fine. The judge also sentenced 24-year old Mahmoud Abdel Latif for one year of actual imprisonment; note that he was arrested at the beginning of last October on charges of incitement on Facebook. Abdel Latif suffers from continuous pain in his arm and needs treatment but the prison’s administration refuses to provide him with the necessary treatment. On the other hand, lawyer Mohamamd Mahmoud said that the judge extended the arrest of Hussein Sub Laban until 30/3/2016 (witnesses hearing session), Bara’ Mahmoud until completing the legal procedures against him, Adham Sabteh until 4/2/2016, Huthaifa Taha for two week until the so-called conduct officer releases his report. Majd Hadreh was presented to court and the judge scheduled a session for him on 10/5/2016. Lawyer Mahmoud added that the judge extended the arrest of Yaser Abu Rmeileh until 31/01/2016, Anas Abu Mayaleh until 8/3/2016, Ahmad Ghazzawi until 3/2/2016, Khaled Jadallah and Emad Bakri and Wahid Bakri and Mahdi Syaj until 17/2/2016, Baha’ Aweisat until 31/3/2016 and Sufian Far’on until 15/2/2016. Omar Abu Sara was also presented to court and the judge scheduled a session for him on 10/2/2016; not that he is not detained. Also, Bashar Jbareen was presented to court and the judge postponed the session indefinitely. The forces also arrested on Wednesday 17-year old Fadi Mit’eb after assaulting him while walking in the neighborhood of Ras Al-Amoud in Silwan. Witnesses explained to Wadi Hilweh Information Center that the forces assaulted Mit’eb and Nour Zaghal and took them to the nearby settlement in Ras Al-Amoud. Minutes later, the forces released Zaghal and arrested Mit’eb. Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud explained that the Magistrate judge extended the arrest of Hamada Mohammad Hareez until 28/1/2016, Fares Awadallah until submitting an indictment against him and Samer Abu Eisheh until 1/3/2016. The judge also decided to release Mohammad Safi with a 700-NIS bail, house-arrest for 7 days and a third-party bail. The child Malek Shqeir was presented to the judge and a session was scheduled for him at the beginning of next March. Adham and Haitham Qareesh were also presented to court and a session as scheduled for them on 2/3/2016.
