Extensions of arrest…and conditional releases

The District and Magistrate judges extended the arrest of Jerusalemite children and young men and conditionally released others.

Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud explained that the Israeli police decided to release 15-year old Mutaz Abu Diab and his 17-year old brother Yousef unconditionally.

The judge also released 25-year old Wadi’ Tawfiq Abu Hummos on condition of house-arrest for 5 days and a 5000-NIS bail. The occupation intelligence requested Wadi’s mother for interrogation. The judge also decided to release Naser Abu Khdeir.

Lawyer Mahmoud added that the child Odai Yousef was released with a 3000-NIS bail, a third-party bail, house-arrest and deportation to the Old City of Jerusalem. Salameh Obeid was also released on Monday with a 5-thousnad NIS bail and house-arrest.

On the other hand, the judge extended the arrest of the children Abdullah Abu Sbitan, Basem Sbitani, Siraj Abu Sbitan, Mahmoud Abulhawa and Omar Abulhawa from the village of Al-Tur until 26/5/2016.

The judge also extended the arrest of Adam Abu Shamala, Ahmad Abu Roumi and Ahmad Abu Aweis until 2/6/2016; Yazan N’aji, Ali Atyeh and Mohammad Atyeh until 26/4/2016; Mahmoud Hijazi until 8/5/2016, Ismaeel Karaki until 26/4/2016; Mohammad Yaghmour and Omar Burqan until 19/7/2016l Hussein Sub Laban until 24/5/2016 and Mohammad Issa until completing the legal procedures against him.

Also, the judge extended the arrest of Ahmad Kiswani and Mohammad Shalabi until 1/5/2016; Mouath Abed Rabbo until 2/6/2016; Amir Dirbas until 27/4/2016 and Qusai Dandis until 2/5/2016.

Appeal to the Supreme Court

Lawyer Mahmoud added that the Supreme Court approved the appeal he had submitted against the District Court’s decision to imprison his 17-year old client Badawi Abu Asab for 26 months and the judge reduced the sentence to 20 months. The court also refused to reduce the sentence issued against the lawyer’s other client, Mufeed Obeid, and ratified the District Court’s decision to sentence him for 5 years in prison.

Deportations from Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa

In a related matter, the head of Jerusalemites detainees and prisoners families committee Amjad Abu Asab explained that the Magistrate judge decided to release 20-year old Mahmoud Muna on conditions of paying a 5-thousand NIS bail and isolation from Al-Aqsa Mosque and the roads leading to it for one month.

Abu Asab added that the occupation authorities decided to deport the 19-year old freed prisoner Rawhi Mahmoud Rawhi Kulghasi from the Old City of Jerusalem for 3 months; they also deported the freed prisoner Ahmad Shawish from the city of Jerusalem for three months.
