Pictures: Releasing the bodies of Martyrs Abu Ter and Aweisat
Dozens of Jerusalemites participated after Monday midnight in the funerals of the two Jerusalemite Martyrs, Abu Ter and Aweisat, in the cemeteries of Um Tuba and Sur Baher south of Jerusalem.
Around 11:30 p.m. Martyr Fadwa Abu Ter was released to her family in the village of Um Tuba near the Mosque and entrance of the cemetery in the presence of occupation forces and intelligence personnel. A prayer was performed the soul of Abu Ter before burying her in the cemetery.
At 1:30 a.m. the occupation intelligence released the body of 16-year old Mutaz Aweisat after surrounding the cemetery and its entrances. The forces were also stationed at the entrance of the cemetery and the gate of the Mosque where a prayer was performed to the soul of the Martyr; he was later buried in the village’s cemetery.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center explained that the forces deliberately delayed the release of Martyr Mutaz. The body was supposed to be released near “O’z” police station at the entrance of the village. Al-Dameer organization lawyer, Mohammad Mahmoud, and the Martyr’s family members as well as paramedics personnel were present near the police station but the intelligence refused to release him in that area and asked everybody to leave announcing that the releasing process will take place at the gate of the cemetery inside the village. Meanwhile, Special Forces raided the cemetery and were stationed in the street of the mosque; a helicopter flew above the area to monitor the number of people participating in the funeral.
Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud explained that the bodies of Martyrs Abu Ter and Aweisat were not frozen and mentioned that the body of Aweisat was very dark maybe due to being detained in the freezers for such a long time; he passed away last October.
Lawyer Mahmoud said: “the commitment of Abu Ter and Aweisat families wasn’t to satisfy the occupation but to ensure the release of the rest of the detained bodies which really shows the unity of Martyrs’ families.”
Mohammad Hajes Aweisat, Martyr’s uncle, explained that his nephew’s body was very dark because of being detained in the freezers for 7 months and pointed out that the families’ commitment to the occupation intelligence’s rules was only to facilitate the releasing process of Jabal Al-Mukabber Martyrs still detained by the occupation; Ala’ Abu Jamal and Baha’ Alayan.
Aweisat also said that his nephew passed away after being shot in the settlement of Armon Hanatsiv that is established on the lands of Jabal Al-Mukabber under the pretext of attempting to carry out a stabbing attack.
Mohammad Abu Ter, Martyr Fadwa’s son, said: “After two months and 10 days of detaining my mother’s body, she was released tonight under tough conditions.”
Abu Ter pointed out that his mother passed away on March 8th in Al-Wad Street in the Old City of Jerusalem and near Al-Aqsa Gate under the pretext of attempting to stab soldiers.
