Arbitrary sentences...sentencing a young man and a child

The District judge sentenced on Monday one young man and a child.

Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud explained that the District judge sentenced 20-year old Ali Mahmoud from the village of Esawyeh for 6 years and 5 months of actual imprisonment on charges of throwing Molotov Cocktails and stones; the public prosecution requested to sentence him for 15 years. After hearing the lawyer’s allegations, the judge sentenced Ali for 6 years and 5 months; he has been under arrest since last April.

The District judge also sentenced 17-year old Baker Mohammad Aweis from Silwan for 3 years of actual imprisonment and a 3-thousand NIS fine; he has been under arrest since last November.
