Dozens of settlers break into Al-Aqsa Mosque on the so-called “Descent of the Torah” holiday
Dozens of settlers broke into the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday morning following calls made by “The alleged temple organizations” on the so-called “Descent of the Torah” holiday.
The Islamic Awqaf Department explained that 140 settlers broke into the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque through Dung Gate during the morning break-in session. They were in the form of consecutive groups and were protected by Israeli Special Forces.
Other groups of settlers varied out tours at Al-Aqsa gates especially Lions, Al-Qataneen and Al-Hadeed (Iron) Gates and performed their religious rituals outside the gates.
The occupation forces arrested an employee of the Islamic Awqaf, Mohammad Rweidi, and one of Al-Aqsa guards, Hamzeh Nimer, and another young man from the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The alleged temple organizations had called to increase settlers’ break-ins into Al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday and Monday during the “Descent of the Torah” holiday.
A police electric vehicle also stormed into Al-Aqsa Mosque through Dung Gate on Sunday morning.
