Arresting the Director of Education, director of Dar Al-Aytam School and four students…threatening to close the school for one month
The occupation forces arrested on Tuesday the Director of Education in Jerusalem, Samir Jibreel, and requested the director of Dar Al-Aytam School in the Old City of Jerusalem for interrogation at Al-Maskobyeh and decided to isolate him from the Old City for 45 days.
The forces have targeted the school recently by raiding its premises and arresting students and threatening to close it which really affected the education process.
The Director of Education explained that the occupation forces arrived on Tuesday morning to the directorate’s gate (same building includes the directorate and Dar Al-Aytam School) and took him to the police station in Al-Wad Street. While detained for nearly an hour, he was held responsible for students throwing stones and empty bottles at the occupation soldiers. The police also threatened to close the school for one month if the incident occurs again in addition to legal responsibility and financial compensations he will have to pay.
The Director of Education declined any claims about students throwing stones or anything else and said: “It is impossible to throw anything especially that all windows have screens in addition to the long distance between the school and Al-Aqsa gates not to mention that all roofs of the buildings in the Old City are connected to one another.”
Jibreel explained that police individuals came to the school on Tuesday afternoon and checked classrooms and the windows. It is noteworthy that Israeli forces raided the school twice on Monday which disrupted the flow of the education process in the last two days.
Isolation from work
The Director of Dar Al-Aytam School explained that the occupation intelligence requested him on Tuesday for interrogation at Al-Maskobyeh. He was accused of obstructing police work and assaulting an officer during a raid on the school on Monday. He was handed an order of isolation from the Old City of Jerusalem for 45 days.
