1611 settlers break into Al-Aqsa Mosque during the Jewish Sukkot holiday
Hundreds of settlers broke into Al-Aqsa Mosque during the Jewish Sukkot holiday which started last Monday 17/10/2016 and lasted for 8 days.
Following calls made by the “Alleged Temple groups”, settlers organized group break-ins to Al-Aqsa Mosque during the morning and afternoon break-in session which were carried out through Dung Gate that is controlled by the occupation authorities since the occupation of Jerusalem.
The number of settlers who broke-in reached during the holiday reached 1611 settlers including Rabbis, young men and families with their children. Rabbis provided lectures on the “Alleged Temple” during the break-in sessions which were held under the protection of Israeli police and Special Forces.
Many settlers performed their religious rituals inside the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque in the presence of the police which condoned their actions which the guards of Al-Aqsa Mosque confronted the settlers amid continuous threats and provocations made against them by the settlers and policemen.
In conjunction with group break-ins, other settlers’ groups organized prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque from the outside (especially at Al-Qataneen Gate that overlooks the Dome of the Rock, Iron Gate, Lions Gate and Al-Ghawanmeh Gate) as well as prayers in Al-Buraq Square.
Throughout Sukkot, the occupation police deployed at Al-Aqsa Gates imposed restrictions on the entrance of Muslims by detaining their IDs and also prevented several young men and girls from entering during break-in sessions.
