Details and pictures: Demolishing 7 residential apartments in Silwan and Beit Hanina…displacing 44 individuals
The occupation authorities demolished 7 residential apartments in Silwan and Beit Hanina in the city of Jerusalem under the pretext of building without a permit.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center explained that the occupation bulldozers demolished on Wednesday a residential building in Silwan (4 apartments) and 3 apartments in the neighborhood of Beit Hanina and displaced 44 individuals including 26 children.
Ahmad Siam’s home
Ahmad Abdelrazek Siam explained that occupation bulldozers demolished his 95-square meters homes (built from bricks and roofed with tin plates) without prior notice.
He added that his house was built two years ago where he has been living with his wife and three children; oldest is 11 and youngest is 3.
Siam explained that the occupation municipality issued a demolition order against his home but it was postponed several times; Wednesday was the deadline. His lawyer tried to submit a request to postpone the demolition order before the Jewish holidays but the municipality refused and demolished the house.
Nveen Siam explained that municipality crews raided the house without prior notice when the family was not home. They were unable to reach their home until the demolition was over; it was executed on top of most of their furniture.
Thaer Siam’s home
Thaer Siam explained that the municipality bulldozers demolished his 60-square meters home which is a barracks that consists of two rooms built from bricks; it was established two years ago.
Thaer explained that his home was demolished without prior notice and he had never received any demolition orders. His home is across from his cousin’s house (Ahmad Siam) and the bulldozers demolished both homes at the same time without giving them the option to object.
He added that he lives in the barracks alone and was preparing it in order to move-in after getting married next year.
Zuheir Rajabi’s home
The occupation authorities also demolished the home of Zuheir Rajabi which is 60 square meters. Zuheir was living was his family of 8 individuals. He explained that he has a 12-year old special-needs girl.
Rajabi explained that the demolished was carried out surprisingly when he was at work and his wife was at the medical center. When he arrived to his home, he found out that the demolition process was completed on top of their furniture.
He explained that the municipality previously demolished his home more than two years ago and he built a new one to live with his family. He attempted to license the home and his lawyer and engineer submitted all required documents but the municipality rejected his request and issued a final demolition order last month.
Ja’afra building
The occupation municipality’s bulldozers demolished a residential building owned by Fatmeh Ja’afra and her sons Issa, Mousa, Bassam and Ahmad. The building consists of 4 residential apartments where each is 125 square meters and consists of three rooms and their facilities. Thirty individuals live in the building which was established 17 years ago; the municipality started harassing the family 9 years ago.
