Beit Hanina- Fadi Shawamreh self-demolishes his house
September 20, 2018

Fadi Shawamreh was forced to self-demolish his house in Beit Hanina, north of Jerusalem, under the pretext of building without a permit.

Shawamreh explained that the Israeli Municipality issued a decision to demolish his house and gave him until the beginning of September to implement the decision. Otherwise, bulldozers and municipal crews will demolish it and he has to pay the cost of demolition. The municipal inspector stormed his house several days ago and warned him against not implementing the decision.

Shawamreh added that the house has been established since 2006, and he has repaired the roof of the house and put reinforced tin plates, and repaired the external walls. The municipality issued a decision to demolish it under the pretext of building without a permit, despite asserting the occupation courts that the building is old but to no avail. He pointed out that he was able to postpone the demolition several times by paying thousands of shekels.

Fifteen people, including six children, live in the house of Shawamreh family.
