Pictures: Suppressing a sit-in against the arrest and detention of the governor of Jerusalem
On Sunday evening, Jerusalemites organized a sit-in in Salah Al-Din Street in Jerusalem to protest against the arrest of the governor of Jerusalem and the ongoing persecution of him since he was appointed Governor of the city.
The participants carried banners reading "Targeting the governor of Jerusalem Adnan Ghaith is a war crime ... There is no legitimacy to the occupation in our capital Jerusalem ... The Palestinian flags were also hung around the area of the sit-in, and participants chanted slogans for Jerusalem and demanded the release of the governor.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center said that the occupation forces suppressed the sit-in by firing sound grenadestowards the participants and assaulting and pushing some of them. They also arrested the director of Wadi Hilweh Information Center, Jawad Siam, and confiscated the Palestinian flags.
Youth groups called for the protest against the arrest of Governor Gheith as he was arrested from his home at dawn and the police extended his arrest until Thursday.
