Under the pretext of opening Al-Rahma Gate chapel…the occupation forces arrest Sheikh Salhab and Sheikh Bkeirat

The Israeli occupation forces arrested on Sunday early morning the head of the Council of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Abdul Azim Salhab, after storming his house in Beit Hanina north of Jerusalem.

The occupation forces also arrested Deputy Director General of the Jerusalem Awqaf Sheikh Najeh Bkeirat, after storming his house in the village of Sur Baher, south of Jerusalem.

Lawyer Mohammed Mahmoud said the police had turned Sheikh Bkeirat and Salhab to Al-Maskobyeh police station and were expected to be transferred to court.

The arrests came after the opening of the chapel of Al-Rahma Gate last Friday and the performance of prayers inside it.The Israeli police threatened in a statement on Saturday night to arrest those who "violated a judicial order" which bans anyone from entering the chapel of Al-Rahma Gate.

On Saturday morning, the forces arrested the director of the Prisoner Club in Jerusalem Naser Qos, Hosni Kilani and Ali Ajaj. Also, a guard of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Samer Qabbani, was arrested after leaving the mosque under the pretext of opening the chapel.
