June 20, 2019

On Thursday, 18 July, the Israeli occupation authorities gave the residents of Wadi Al-Hummos neighborhood in the village of Sur Baher until 18/7/2019 to implement the demolition orders of their homes.

Wadi Al-Hummos Committee informed Wadi Hilweh Information Center that the Israeli Supreme Court ratified last Thursday the army's decision to demolish 16 residential buildings with more than 100 apartments in the neighborhood, under the pretext of being close to the separation fence built on the lands of the village.

The committee added that the army gave the locals until the 18th of next month, to implement the demolition orders or the army will demolish them after this date.

The committee explained to the center that the occupation army began to pursue the population about 3 years ago, with demolition orders on the pretext of "too close to the security fence". it is a street surrounded by barbed wires and electronic sensors. According to the occupation authorities’ decision, construction is banned within 250 meters from the fence for security measures. This puts 15 Dunoms of the lands of Wadi Al-Hummos (half the neighborhood) at risk of being demolished.

The committee added that the buildings that were approved to be demolishedare mostly located in the area classified "A" and have building permits from the Ministry of Local Government.
