The occupation displaces 14 individuals after demolishing their home in Jerusalem
On Tuesday, the occupation municipality’s bulldozers demolished a house belonging to Mohammad Bazian in the "industrial zone" north of Jerusalem under the pretext of building without a permit.
Fourteen individualslived in the house of Bazian family, including 11 children. The house has an area of 200 square meters that Mohammad Bazian built 6 years ago. He tried to license the house, but all his attempts did not succeed, and the municipality insisted on demolishing it.
Bazian added: "The municipality imposed a construction violation of NIS 360,000. I paid monthly installments, and the courts imposed NIS 120,000. Before every hearing which usually took place every 2-6 months, I had to pay NIS 2000 for lawyer fees, in addition to fees paid to the engineer working on the licensing procedures as well as other requests made by the court. Today, I was surprised by the forces storming the house, completely surrounding it, and taking all family members outside the house before carrying out the demolition.”
He continued: “Yesterday, a team from the municipality came to the house and told us they were going to demolish it next week, but we could go to court to appeal the decision. We went to court and filed an appeal, but today we were surprised by what happened."
"This is the tax of our steadfastness and stability in Jerusalem," Bazian said. "I will live in a tent on my land and I will not leave this place.”
Bazian explained that the bulldozers of the occupation demolished a container in the vicinity of the house, used as a living room.
Self-demolition
Last week, the Israeli municipality forced Nizar Bazian to self-demolish two floors of his house in the industrial zone north of Jerusalem under the pretext of building without a permit.
On the other hand, the Israeli occupation forces forced Mahmoud Obeidat to self-demolish two horses and sheep containers in Wadi al-Hummos neighborhood in Sur Baher village; each has an area of 160 square meters.
