Names of detainees- Closing Al-Aqsa and the Old City…arrests
On Wednesday afternoon, the occupation forces closed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City of Jerusalem, claiming that two youths had knives, while turning the area of Damascus Gate into a military zone to prevent any demonstration against the “deal of the century”.
Closing Al-Aqsa and the Old City of Jerusalem
The Islamic Endowments Department reported that the occupation forces completely closed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and prevented entry or exit from it for one hour.
Witnesses from Al-Aqsa said that the occupation forces arrested two worshipers and detained them inside the police station in the courtyard of the Dome of the Rock Mosque, and severelybeat them, and were deployed in large numbers outside the station and prevented anyone from approaching the area.
The witnesses added that the occupation forces arrested and handcuffed two young men.
The occupation police said in a statement: "During the activity of police officers in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa, two suspects were arrested after a knife was found with each one of them”.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center’s lawyerfor minors explained that the forces arrested 18-year-old Khalil Hisham Karawi, and severely beat him during the arrest despite having a disability in his leg. The forces also arrested Yousef Jamjoum, 17 years old.
During the closure of Al-Aqsa, the forces closed the Old City and were stationed at all of its gates, during which they assaulted those present in the area of Herods Gate, arresting a number of young men and injuring some of them with various bruises.
The father of one of the detainees stated that the forces assaulted the youths by beating them without reason, as they were prevented from going to their homes inside the Old City of Jerusalem. Some youths suffered swelling in the eyes and one of them had a bruised leg, pointing out that the police refused to transfer the youths for treatment.
Eyewitnesses reported to the center that the forces arrested Musa Kamleh, Naeem Al-Razem, Ramzi Jaber and Nasri Jaber.
Damascus Gate
The occupation forcesturned the area of Damascus Gate and its surroundings into a military zone, with the massive deployment of occupation forces, intelligence, special forces, borders police and Calvary units in the area.They pursued youth from one area to another to prevent them from gathering and demonstrating against the deal of the century.
The occupation forces evacuated the courtyard of Damascus Gate and prevented anyone from being there.
The occupation forces arrested a boy and two young men. Lawyer Mahmoud explained that the forces arrested Dida’ Zahiri and the young man Areen Za’aneen.
Eyewitnesses stated that the forces arrested Amir Nofal and severely beat him, especially while detaining him in the "detention room" in Damascus Gate area.
Expulsions from Al-Aqsa Mosque
The occupation authorities expelled the freed prisoner Yacoub Abu Asab and Sheikh Nour Rajabi from Al-Aqsa Mosque for a period of 6 months, while the Jerusalemite As’ad Ajaj was deported from the Old City of Jerusalem for two weeks.
Hamza Nimer, a guard at Al-Aqsa Mosque, was also expelled from the mosque for one week.
