Cutting the roof of the house- demolishing the house of Rajabi family in Silwan
June 23, 2020

Last Tuesday, the occupation municipality's crews started demolishing the house of the Rajabi family in Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque, under the pretext of "building without a permit."

Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Silwan explained that the occupation municipality's crews, accompanied by large forces of special units and police, stormed Al-Bustan neighborhood in Silwan, completely surrounded the house of Mohammed Rajabi, closed several junctions leading to it, and then proceeded with a manual demolition of the building.

Rajabi family explained that the occupation municipality's crews began the process of demolishing its house with manual demolition mechanisms, as there is no possibility for its bulldozers to reach the site of the house. The crews cut the roofs of the house using a new demolition method.

Rajabi family added that the occupation municipality pursued them since the construction of its house less than two months ago, by storming the house several times and issuing an administrative demolition order against it without the possibility of postponing it. The court gave the family until the end of last week to self-demolish their property, but the family refused as not to make the self-demolition a precedent used in Al-Bustan neighborhood whose homes are at risk of being demolished for settlement projects.

Seven people, most of them children, live in the Rajabi home. A week ago, the family began to empty their home.
