Taking control of a land…The Nature and Parks Authority demolishes 3 storages in Silwan
On Thursday, the Nature and Parks Authority crews demolished 3 storages in the neighborhood of Wadi Hilweh in Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque, on the pretext of "turning the land for the public benefit."
Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Silwan said that joint teams from the "Nature Authority and municipality along with police forces and officers" stormed a land belonging to Marwan Siam in the area of "Dung Gate/ Wadi Hilweh neighborhood", and the municipal crews began to demolish 3 storages using hand demolition tools, claiming that part of the land will be transferred for public benefit.
Othman Siam explained to the center that the land is owned by his family and the storages are located on it before the occupation of Jerusalem.
He added that the occupation municipality notified the family in October and November of the demolition order, on the pretext that the land was for public benefit, and then the family submitted an objection to that, and the municipality never responded.
Siam explained that the family was surprised by the crews storming the land, emptying the storages, and proceeding to demolish them, by a decision of the Judicial Adviser of the Nature Authority.
Siam pointed out that “Elad settlement association” tried several times to storm the land and carry out excavation work in it, but the family confronted them, then they were warned by the municipality and on Thursday the "Nature Authority" took control of the land.
On his part, Jawad Siam, director of the Wadi Hilweh Information Center, explained that the occupation authorities are planning to establish a "pedestrian road" in the land that will be connected from the Kedem settlement project "at the entrance to the neighborhood", to Dung Gate and Al-Buraq Wall. The land is located several meters away from the construction of a project station "Aerial / Cable Car".
