A Palestinian Martyr on the doorsteps of Al-Aqsa Mosque
On Monday evening, a young man was martyred after being shot by the occupation forces at Bab Hutta - one of the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque -.
An eyewitness told Wadi Hilweh Information Center: “When I was inside Al-Aqsa Mosque, I heard gunshots, about 6 bullets. I quickly went to check what was happening, and I saw the occupation police heading from the area of Bab al-Silsileh and from al-Aqsa towards Bab Hutta. Upon arriving at the place, I saw a young man lying on the ground "outside Al-Aqsa," I tried to treat him with my shirt in an attempt to stop the bleeding. I also managed to tear the young man's shirt, and the bullets were directed towards the upper part of his body "in the chest area" and one of them penetrated the heart, and during that the forces pushed me and took him inside Al-Aqsa."
One of the witnesses added that the occupation forces immediately closed the open gates of Al-Aqsa, prevented entry or exit from them, removed the worshipers from the area of Bab Hutta by force, placed iron barriers, and detained the body of the martyr for about two hours, and took his fingerprints and conducted initial checks on the site, while dozens of officers, intelligence and police personnel were present in the area.
The occupation forces also closed all roads leading to Bab Hutta, and prevented the residents from returning to their homes.
The closed the gates of the Old City and deployed forces over them, and the occupation forces subjected several young men to a body search, especially in area of Lions Gate.
The Palestinian Red Crescent said that their crews were prevented from entering the vicinity of Bab Hutta, one of the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The occupation police said in a statement: “A stabbing attack was carried out in the Old City of Jerusalem."
