Storming the "Preaching, Guidance and Shari’a Education" directorate and arresting Sheikh Bkeirat

On Wednesday, the occupation forces arrested the Deputy Director of the Islamic Endowments Department and the Director of Shari’a Education, Sheikh Najeh Bkeirat, after storming the headquarters of the “Preaching, Guidance and Shari’a Education” directoratewhich is affiliated with the Islamic Endowments Department, in the area of Al-SilsilehGate.

The occupation forces also arrested Saif Samira, an employee of the Islamic Endowments Department, and released him on condition of expulsion from Al-Aqsa, for an indefinite period.

The occupation forces also arrested a young man and woman from Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Council of Endowments and Islamic Affairs and Holy Places condemned the raid, search, and arrest of Sheikh Bkeirat, and issued a statement explaining that the occupation authorities were from the police and intelligence services stormed the offices of the "Preaching, Guidance and Shari’a Education" directorate affiliated with the Islamic Endowments, adjacent to Al-Aqsa Mosque in the area of Al-Silsileh Gate, and searched and confiscated a number of equipment and contents, and concluded the scene with the arrest of Sheikh Najeh Bkeirat, Director of Shari’a Education and Deputy Director General of the Islamic Endowments.

The statement added that what happened is a dangerous precedent that bears with it the danger of the occupation’s orientations and plans to target the established and active presence of the Islamic Endowments Department, taking a direct hostile character that the city of Jerusalem has not witnessed since its occupation in 1967 until this day.

The Endowments Council demanded the immediate release of Sheikh Najeh Bkeirat and the return of all that was confiscated.
