Arrested while defending their lands in Silwan- Conditionally releasing six young men
On Sunday evening, the occupation police released 6 Jerusalemites on condition of house arrest and deportation from Wadi Al-Rababeh neighborhood in Silwan.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center / Jerusalem stated that the police released: Ahmed Awad, Yousef Awad, Mohammad Awad, Faris Sumrein, Daoud Sumrein, and the boy Abdullah Awad, on condition of house arrest for a period of 5 days and deportation from Wadi Al-Rababeh for 10 days.
The occupation forces arrested the youths in the morning, while they were in their lands in Wadi Al-Rababeh, while allowing the "Nature and Parks Authority" crews and bulldozers to work inside the lands.
Ahmed Sumrein, a member of the Silwan Lands Defense Committee, explained - after his release - that he and 5 other family members were arrested for being in their lands to protect them from confiscation. They were detained for 12 hours in Salah Al-Din Street police station.
Sumrein added that the "Nature and Parks Authority" crews stormed the lands of the Sumrein family in the early hours accompanied by officers and police personnel.
He explained that the family has all the papers and maps that prove its ownership of the lands, and has gone to court to prevent any work inside it.
