Beit Hanina- the occupation municipality orders the Abu Hammad family to self-demolish their home established 10 years ago
The occupation municipality forced Fawwaz Abu Hammad to self-demolish his house in Beit Haninaunder the pretext of building without a permit.
Abu Hammad explained that he recently started to self-demolish his house and remove the rubble by a decision of the municipality. A session will be held on the February 27th, to consider the issue of the house which has spanned for 10 years, between the demolition decision, postponement and freezing of the decision for successive periods and the imposition of financial fines "demolition violations."
Abu Hammad explained that he built his house and recently self-demolished it after years of trying to license the house, where he paid 43,000 shekels in building violations. He pointed out that during the last session, the municipality proposed to impose a new violation on him worth 35,000 shekels, in exchange for delaying the demolition for 6 months, which he refused, after years of paying the fines without the possibility of obtaining a building permit.
Seven family members lived in Abu Hammad 's house, including the family of his deceased son, "his wife and two sons,". He said: "After the demolition of the house, the family was separated, so there is no home for all of them, and we were distributed to live with the family."
Abu Hammad pointed out that the cost of the self-demolition amounted to 28,000 shekels, between the demolition process and the transfer of the rubble, in addition to forcing him to reduce the height of the wall surrounding the land.
