January 24, 2021

For the second day in a row, the occupation authorities prevented restoration work at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Israeli police stormed the Dome of the Rock, and prevented the teams of the Reconstruction Committee from repairing it, as they were repairing the tiles inside, and started about two weeks ago, but they were surprised when they were preventedfrom continuing their work.

The Council of Endowments and Islamic Affairs and Holy Places stated that the policestopped all work in Al-Aqsa Mosque on Saturday, photographed the ID cards of workers and technicians, prevented them from working, and threatened them with arrest if work continued.

The statement of the Endowments Council added that the police are working to stop all works and activities of the reconstruction committee in Al-Aqsa Mosque, and prevent the restoration of important sites inside the mosque that need immediate restoration, and they are working to disrupt the entry of the simplest basic materials necessary for maintenance. The reconstruction committee is now unable to maintain or fix any defect in the mosque’s facilities, and its employees are exposed to persecution, threats of arrest and deportation.

The Endowments Council warned against the consequences of the ongoing violations by the Israeli police against Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Qudsi in a blatant manner for the goals and objectives of the authorities, as they are targeting all reconstruction projects in Al-Aqsa Mosque, and prevent the completion of Hashemite projects.
