March 30, 2021

The occupation police extended, late on Tuesday evening, the arrest of the freed prisoner, Majd Barbar, until Wednesday.

The occupation police arrested Barbar after storming his house in the Ras Al-Amoud neighborhood in the town of Silwan.

Ezz El Din Barbar - the brother of the freed prisoner - explained that the occupation forces stormed the family building during the reception of those welcoming the release of his brother, and asked Majd to attend on the pretext of the presence of flags in the reception tent.

He added: "The forces stormed the tent, then demanded the arrest of Majd, and at the gate of the building, the forces sprayed pepper gas on the people, and attacked them by pushing and beating them, and randomly firing grenades."

He explained that several injuries were recorded among women, children and young men, including Majd's mother and his wife, "suffocation cases," and one of the boys was injured by a stun grenade.

Barbar pointed out that the reception for Majd was to be held in Al-Ezaryeh, but the occupation forces stormed the hall before the ceremony, and prevented it from being held, and informed the hall owners of the decision.

For his part, the Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance officer, Fadi Obeidi, said that several injuries were recorded in the area due to “gas, rubber bullets, and beating with batons,” and some of them were taken to the hospital.

In a statement, the Red Crescent stated that its crews dealt with 12 injuries, with gas, beatings and rubber bullets, and transferred one case to Al-Maqased Hospital.
