Silwan…Violent clashes after the suppression of a sit-in against the demolition of facilities…arrests

On Tuesday evening, violent clashes broke out between the occupation forces and young men in Al-Bustan neighborhood in the town of Silwan, following the suppression of a protest in the neighborhood against the demolition of facilities and a threat to displace families from the area.

The occupation forces stormed Al-Bustan neighborhood, in conjunction with a sit-in organized in the main street of the neighborhood, during which they chanted for Jerusalem, Al-Aqsa and the town of Silwan, against the displacement of residents and demolitions, and raised Palestinian flags. The forces spread in the roads, then they suppressed those present, and violent clashes broke out in the place and extended until midnight.

The occupation forces used live bullets, grenades, and sewage water, while the youths blocked roads with tires, containers and wood, and threw stones and fireworks.

The Musta’ribeen individuals (undercover police unit) stormed the area of the confrontations, and arrested Musa Zarif Rweidi, who was attacked by 4 undercover policemen, and one of them pointed his pistol at him after holding him to the ground, during which they severely beat him, while he was blindfolded.

One of the unit's members fired live bullets in the air, during the arrest operation.

The undercover unit also assaulted and beat the press crews, to keep them away from their whereabouts and prevent them from filming.

A wastewater vehicle stormed the place, and randomly sprayed water towards homes and properties, while the youths responded by throwing fireworks at it.

On Tuesday, the Israeli occupation municipality demolished a commercial facility, "Al-Khalil Butchery", belonging to the Al-Rajabi family, and the apartment of Fadel Al-Abbasi, in the town of Silwan.

The occupation forces arrested 8 Jerusalemites from the two families and severely beat them, and all of them sustained various injuries and bruises, and they are: Mohammad Mahmoud al-Abbasi, Khalil Mohammad al-Abbasi, Saeed Noman al-Abbasi, Saif Mahmoud al-Abbasi, Nidal al-Rajabi, Iyad al-Rajabi, Fadi al-Rajabi, and the boy Ahmed Nidal al-Rajabi.

The forces also arrested Oday al-Maarjeh from Ras al-Amoud neighborhood in Silwan, while he was in front of Al-Maskobyeh, west of Jerusalem.

In the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, the forces arrested Mansour Mahmoud, and suppressed the residents, while the settlers attacked the residents with stones.
