On Wednesday, the occupation municipality crews demolished an apartment in Ras al-Amoud neighborhood in Silwan.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem stated that the occupation municipality crews, accompanied by dozens of police forces, surrounded the Ras al-Amoud neighborhood in Silwan, and then surrounded the house of the Zaghal family.
The center added that the municipality crews demolished the house, which was under construction, with hand demolition tools, and continued the demolition from nine in the morning until four in the afternoon, during which the Al-Zaghal family members who live in the basement were forced to leave the house.
Mohammad Al-Zaghal explained that the family built on the roof of the house, last April, then the municipality issued an order to stop construction as the family had completed the external construction "stone, bricks and reinforced iron", then the municipality issued the demolition decision until it was confirmed by the District Court.
Al-Zaghal added that the municipality asked the family to dismantle the roof, and they did so, only to be surprised by the crews storming the apartment on Wednesday and carrying out the demolition.
The Zaghal family explained that the family's children play in the building away from the dangers of the street, and after the demolition and vandalism they were deprived of that.
