Pictures- A series of demolitions in Jerusalem
Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem said that during the past two days, the city witnessed a series of demolitions and bulldozing, either under the pretext of "unauthorized construction" or "the ownership of the land by settlers."
The center added that the families of Abu Dweih and Rabay’a implemented the decision to demolish their homes in the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber, while the municipality's crews demolished a home for the Zaytoun family in Silwan. In the town of Beit Hanina, the occupation bulldozers affiliated with the so-called "enemy property guard" demolished commercial facilities for the Aweida family.
Silwan
In the morning, the occupation municipality crews stormed the Bi’er Ayoub neighborhood, spread across the area and closed the streets leading to Mohammad Fayez Zaytoun’s house, then proceeded to demolish the apartment, using hand demolition tools.
The Zeitoun family explained that the apartment has an area of 80 square meters, and has been in place for five years, and is built of wood, bricks and dry walls.
The family added that the municipality issued a decision for the administrative demolition of the apartment about a month ago.
Jabal Al-Mukabber
The occupation municipality forced Ali Mohammad Abu Dweih to self-demolish his house.
Abu Dweih explained that he has been living in the home with his family of 4 individuals since 2015, and was surprised a week ago by the administrative demolition decision.
The family explained that the municipality began pursuing them in 2018, and then they returned with the final demolition decision recently.
Amir Rabay'a also continued to self-demolish his house, which he was preparing to move in next July after his wedding.
Rabay’a said: "At the beginning of the year, the municipality forced me to demolish an apartment, and today it is forcing me to demolish the second. The municipality does not want us to live in peace in the house. They threatened to impose a heavy fine, so I was forced to demolish it, and I postponed the wedding that was scheduled for next July."
Beit Hanina
The bulldozers and crews of the "Guardian of Absentee Property" demolished, on Monday, a commercial facility, "offices, stores and horse stables", belonging to the Aweida family in Beit Hanina.
Majed Aweida explained that the settlers claim ownership of the land, which has an area of about 3 dunoms, stressing that the case is still in the courts, and the final decision on the ownership of the land has not been issued yet.
Aweida added that the land belongs to the Palestinian Housing Council, which had bought it in 2004, and the council was surprised to be pursued by the "enemy’s property custodian" in 2009, under the pretext of ownership, and the case is still in the courts.
Aweida said: "It is not only a matter of demolition, but a process of confiscation and complete evacuation of the land and its transformation into a settlement outpost in the town of Beit Hanina."
