Shu’fat refugee camp and Anata…A tight siege and constant incursions
The occupation authorities have continued their siege on the Shu’fat refugee camp and the town of Anata, in the city of Jerusalem, since Saturday evening, and continued to carry out incursions into the area around the clock.
The spread of the occupation forces in the alleys of the camp and the Anata area continued, incursions into lanes, alleys, residential buildings, houses, and shops, searches of many houses, roofs and alleys, and clashes from time to time witnessed in the streets of the camp. As for the entrance to the military checkpoint and the entrance to Anata, the occupation forces opened them in the afternoon hours. It allowed the exit of some vehicles under careful and slow inspection procedures, and only allowed the "Israeli identity" holders to pass, while those holding permits or temporary residencies were prevented from exiting, and the forces carried out 4 arrests from the camp and Anata.
Schools in Anata and Shu’fat camp were suspended, and the siege imposed on the area also prevented students from heading to their schools outside the camp.
Lawyer Medhat Diba submitted a complaint to the "Minister of Internal Security", "the Chief of Police" and "the Judicial Adviser to the Government" over the closure of the camp, and demanded its reopening before Monday evening.
Diba explained that in the event that the complete siege on the area is not lifted, he will submit a petition to the Supreme Court.
Lawyer Diba explained that the siege imposed on the area of Shu’fat refugee camp, Dahiyat al-Salam, Ras Khamis, Ras Shehadeh, and the town of Anata" has put 150,000 Palestinians in prison, deprived them of the right of movement, education, treatment, and worship.
Diba explained that 3,000 patients need treatment daily outside the camp, 350 patients need dialysis, 1,500 disabled people in the camp need to join special centers for them, 15,000 students did not go to their schools and universities for two days, and 15,000 workers did not go to work.
The Jerusalem Governorate called on human rights organizations, diplomatic missions, institutions and countries of the international community to take their moral responsibilities to lift the injustice and siege on the refugee camp.
