Civil disobedience in Shu’fat refugee camp... Confrontations and arrests
The residents of Shu’fat refugee camp announced, on Tuesday evening, civil disobedience, until the siege on the camp was lifted.
The residents of Shu’fat camp and the town of Anata have been suffering, since last Saturday evening, from a tight siege, complete isolation and continuous abuse, by closing the main entrances to the area and allowing partial passage and through long and complicated procedures, successive incursions into streets, residential buildings and shops, arrests and summons for young men.
In the streets of Shu’fat refugee camp and the town of Anata, garbage piles up in all the alleys and emits foul odors, because trucks did not enter to collect it and clean the area since last Saturday night.
As for the shops, the shelves of some of the foodstuffs and supplies were emptied, as companies were not allowed to enter the camp and deliver the goods to the merchants.
As a result, the residents held a meeting this evening, during which they decided civil disobedience, which is represented in the schools being closed, workers not going to work, closing shops, calling Jerusalem schools to strike, and calling the town of Anata to join the civil disobedience.
The occupation forces suppressed, with bombs and rubber bullets, a massive march that went out towards the military checkpoint, after the civil disobedience was announced.
Sporadic confrontations also erupted during the afternoon and evening hours, and the forces sprinkled waste water in the camp's streets.
The forces carried out arrests from Shu’fat campand Anata.
