On Wednesdayevening, the Al-Ajlouni family self-demolished their house in the Old City of Jerusalem by a decision of the occupation municipality.

 The Al-Ajlouni family explained that the municipality pursued them for renovating two rooms in the “upper floor” seven years ago, and imposed a fine of 10,000 shekels on them.

Amal Al-Ajlouni explained that the upper floor has the bedrooms, and the lower floor is the kitchen and the living room, and the demolition will affect the entire house.

She explained that the municipality asked the family to license the “construction of the renovation”, and the family actually started to do so, but the owner of the house, "Rasmi Al-Ajlouni", had kidney failure, which prevented him from doing soas his health condition did not enable him to follow up on the license procedures, since he spent most of his time in hospitals.

Amal Al-Ajlouni added that she underwent surgery along with her husband a few days ago, “transferring a kidney from her to her husband.” She said they still in treatment and need rest, but the municipality gave them until next Sunday to carry out the demolition.

Al-Ajlouni said: “If we sleep on the stone, we will not come out of Jerusalem, we are steadfast.”

The husband, Rasmi Al-Ajlouni, his wife Amal, and their two daughters, Ritaj, 7, and Randa, 3, live in the house.
