The District Court rejects the "Shehadeh family's appeal" against the decision to evict them from their homes in Silwan
On Sunday, the District Court rejected the appeal submitted by the Shehadeh family against the decision to evict them from their homes in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood in Silwan.
The Batn al-Hawa neighborhood committee stated that the judges of the District Court rejected the Shehadeh family's appeal, without explaining any legal reasons or explanations, and also did not discuss the allegations made by the lawyer during the appeal session held last Wednesday.
The committee added that the court gave the Shehadeh family 60 days to appeal the eviction decision to the Supreme Court.
The committee also explained that the court kept the decision to implement the eviction that was previously issued, pending a final decision on the case by the Supreme Court.
The Shehadeh family had purchased the plot of land in 1966, and today 5 brothers live in the family homes that are threatened with eviction.
Settlement authorities claim that 5200 square meters of the lands of the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood belong to Yemeni Jews since 1881. Since 2015, the Ateret Cohanim Settlement Association has begun handing over families in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood notices and judicial notifications to evict them from their homes.
