Silwan- Clashes and the arrest of 5 Jerusalemites
Clashes broke out on Friday, in the town of Silwan, immediately after the end of the "Friday prayer" in the sit-in tent in the town.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem stated that clashes took place in the Bi’er Ayoub neighborhood in the town of Silwan, as the forces stormed the vicinity of the "Silwan tent", after Friday prayers.
The center added that the forces were present in the vicinity of the Silwan tent "before and during" the Friday prayer, and an infantry squad of soldiers stationed near the tent, trying to confiscate the Palestinian flag hanging on one of the poles, then a police car returned and stormed the area after the prayer ended, and heavily fired gas bombs and rubber bullets in the place.
The center added that the young men responded by throwing stones and firecrackers at the forces deployed in the neighborhood, pointing out that the forces deployed in the streets of Bi’er Ayoub neighborhood and at all its intersections, and closed some of them with police vehicles, and prevented residents from passing through with their vehicles.
The center stated that a force from the Musta’ribeen "undercover police" stormed the Bi’er Ayoub neighborhood, assaulted the boys and pulled out pistols, while carrying out the arrest of one of the boys, who was also beaten.
The lawyer of the Wadi Hilweh Information Center stated that the forces arrested 5 Jerusalemites from the town of Silwan, they are: Zain Mahran Shweiki, Daoud Al-Ghoul, Fares Sarhan, Samir Sarhan, and Mohammad Salim.
Dozens of Palestinians performed Friday prayers in the Silwan tent, rejecting the demolition decisions and the displacement of residents from their homes.
