The martyrdom of Mohammad Al-Aseebi in the city of Jerusalem
April 1, 2023

Mohammad Al-Aseebi, 26 years old, from the village of Hoora in the Negev, was killed by the occupation forces' bullets at Al-Silsileh Gate, "one of the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque."

Eyewitnesses said that verbal altercations and then a fight took place between the forces and the young man, so one of the individuals shot him directly and from a short distance. They added that the altercations took place after a girl was arrested in the area and the young man tried to intervene to prevent any assault on her.

As for the occupation police, they said in a statement that the young man tried to snatch the soldier's weapon after he was arrested in the area, and managed to fire from a pistol, and the soldiers fired bullets at the young man.

Immediately after the shooting, the occupation forces closed the gates of the Old City and deployed at the gates of Al-Aqsa in large numbers, especially since the shooting took place after the end of Al-Taraweeh prayers in Al-Aqsa.

It is noteworthy that the occupation forces - before shooting the young man - assaulted the Palestinians and merchants in the Al-Qattaneen Market - adjacent to Al-Aqsa - and carried out the arrests of young men from it.

The family demand the cameras recordings

The family of the martyr Al-Aseebi demanded from the police to display the surveillance cameras recordings in the place and to conduct a serious investigation, questioning the police claims.

A general strike…an emergency meeting of the follow-up committee

The municipality of Rahat announced the declaration of a comprehensive strike, which includes the education system, except for special education, and the municipality indicated in a statement issued by it, “The Rahat municipality also supports the decisions of the Hoora Council, and the Ramadan entertainment activities in Rahat will be postponed for two days (Saturday and Sunday) in line with the decisions of the Hoora Council.”

The Hoora Council announced a mourning for a period of two days, Saturday and Sunday, in the aftermath of the cold-blooded execution, and the council said in a statement that "the fabricated allegations of the police, that the martyr tried to snatch the weapon of one of its members, is an attempt to justify its crime, and contradicts all the testimonies of the worshipers."

The Higher Follow-up Committee called for an emergency meeting with the Steering Committee and the Regional Council of the Unrecognized Villages in the Negev today, Saturday, at 2:00 pm, in the public library in the village of Hoora in the Negev.
