Demolitions and demolition orders continue in Jerusalem
On Saturday, the occupation municipality forced two families from the city of Jerusalem to implement demolition decisions, under the pretext of building without a permit.
Silwan
The Shallodi family self-demolished the roof of their "kitchen" in the Wadi Hilweh neighborhood of Silwan.
The family explained to Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem, that the kitchen was built in 2016, and the demolition decision was suspended until June of last year, and about two weeks ago, the municipality demanded that the demolition must be carried out before 27/5/2023.
The family pointed out that the municipality imposed a building fine of 5,000 shekels on them, in addition to preventing them from using the kitchen after demolishing its roof.
In Wadi Qaddoum neighborhood, the municipality forced Zaid Salaymeh to self-demolish his house.
Salaymeh explained that his house has existed for 8 months, and its area is 60 square meters. Two weeks ago, the municipality issued a sudden demolition decision without the possibility of objection.
Issawiya
In the village of Issawiya, the released prisoner, Ra’fat Al-Issawi, emptied the contents of his house, after his appeal against the decision to demolish his house was rejected.
Al-Issawi explained that his house was built 21 years ago, and for years he tried to obtain a permit, but the municipality refuses to do so under the pretext of “public benefit,” and that the building is not included in the structural plan.
He pointed out that the municipality demanded him to demolish the house with his own hands, and he said: "It is difficult for me to demolish the house with my own hands. I am emptying its contents after the final demolition decision."
