August 19, 2023

Hours of anxiety and waiting were experienced by the Al-Zaghal family, from the hours of yesterday, Friday, until the hours of dawn on Saturday, from the moment the news circulated that her son, Abd al-Rahman was shot in the head, until she confirmed the news, then entering and leaving the operating room.

Dozens of family members and friends came to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, and waited in its yard and corridors for any information about the wounded boy's health condition, despite the tight siege imposed by the occupation forces on the department to which the boy was transferred for treatment.

The wounded child, Abd al-Rahman Amer al-Zaghal, 14, is lying in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital.

Regarding the health condition of the wounded boy, Firas Al-Jabrini, the lawyer of the Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem, explained that the boy's health condition is stable after undergoing head surgery, pointing out that he and the lawyer, Siraj Abu Arafeh, were able to visit the boy after the end of the operation.

He said: "The boy was hit by a bullet in the middle of the forehead, which penetrated his head and exited from the left side "above the eye". Currently, he is under anesthesia and connected to respirators, and suffers from skull fractures. He was transferred from the "resuscitation" department to the "intensive care" department.

Lawyer Al-Jabrini pointed out that an extension session in absentia will be held for the wounded boy, Al-Zaghal, this evening in the Magistrate Court.

Nabil Sharha - the uncle of the child Zaghal - denied what was reported in the police statement, "that Abd al-Rahman had a Molotov cocktail in his hand and threw it." He said: "He had 10 shekels in his hand, and he was going to buy bread for the family. My sister's children support the family after the death of their father."
