Transferring him to Al-Ramla prison…extending the detention of the wounded boy Abdul Rahman Al-Zaghal
September 3, 2023

On Sunday, the Magistrate Court extended the detention of the wounded boy Abdul Rahman Al-Zaghal, 14 years old, until next Thursday.

Firas Al-Jabrini, a lawyer for the Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem, explained that an absentia hearing was held for the Al-Zaghal, and his detention was extended to next Thursday, where he was still in the intensive care room at "Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital".

Lawyer Al-Jabrini pointed out that the family was surprised on Sunday evening by the hospital's decision to transfer the wounded boy from "Hadassah" to the "Al-Ramla Prison" hospital, to complete the treatment.

Lawyer Al-Jabrini explained that the boy is still in the stages of treatment and needs follow-up, and was on the treatment bed in the intensive care room, noting that his client was hit by a bullet in the head that caused him skull fractures, in addition to fragments in his lower limbs, and it was recently discovered that he had pelvic fractures.

Al-Jabrini added that until today the full damage caused by the bullet was not known.

Al-Zaghal was injured on 18/8/2023, in the town of Silwan, and was arrested and taken to Hadassah Hospital for immediate treatment.

Since the transfer of the wounded boy to the hospital, the forces have been present in his room and have imposed restrictions on visiting him. More than 10 young men have been removed from the hospital under the pretext of "attempting to visit" the wounded boy.
