September 10, 2023

The 18-year-old young woman Zeina Abdo turned herself in to Al-Ramla prison on Sunday to serve her 5-and-a-half-month prison sentence, while the police released her brother Karam after being arrested and detained for 4 days.

Zeina Abdo was arrested at the beginning of last December, while walking on "Lions Gate" road, after she was attacked and weapons were pointed at her, and after continuous investigations and several extension hearings, she was charged with "incitement on social media", and she was released at the end of last year on the condition of house arrest until the end of the legal proceedings against her. Last July, the court issued a sentence of actual imprisonment for 5 and a half months, and she turned herself in to prison on Sunday.

Zeina was arrested the first time in April 2021, during her walk on Herods Gate Street in the city of Jerusalem, and she was assaulted and severely beaten, and then she was released.

In the evening hours, the police released the young man Karam Abdo, the brother of prisoner Zeina, and the forces arrested the young man last Thursday after breaking into his home in the village of Jabal al-Mukabber, as the family explained.
