I should have been wearing a wedding suit, not a prison suit…Mohammad Al-Bakri was transferred to administrative detention
“I should have been wearing a wedding suit, not a prison suit,” a sentence said by the detained groom, Mohammad Azmi Al-Bakri, before the judge during his last extension session; After he was arrested a week before his wedding, while he was preparing and putting the finishing touches on his wedding and his home.
Conditions in the Al-Bakri family’s home changed from preparation for the wedding of their eldest son, Mohammad, to a journey of torment between court sessions and Al-Maskobyeh until the “administrative detention” decision was issued, and feelings changed from joy in the home of the groom’s family to oppression and anxiety.
Thursday, October 5th, was the scheduled date for the wedding of the young man, Mohammad Ali, to his bride, Haneen. However, the occupation wanted otherwise, and shocked the groom and his family by transferring him to administrative detention for a period of 4 months.
The mother of the detained groom explained that the occupation intelligence stormed the family’s house last Thursday, while Mohammad was preparing himself for a photo session with his bride, and when Mohammad told the intelligence about this, they told him, “Do not cancel the filming. It will only be detention and interrogation for two hours, and you will return home.”
After several hours of waiting, the family was surprised by the decision to extend his detention to the next day, then it was extended twice, and the date of the next extension session was “Thursday,” but the occupation intelligence pre-empted the session and transferred him to administrative detention.
The young man Mohammad Al-Bakri is a freed prisoner who spent 7 years in prison, and was released in 2021. As for his brother Ahmed, he was released from prison last August, after the end of his 8-year prison sentence.
Al-Bakri’s mother said: “The reunification was complete and Mohammad was the first joy in our home after the torment of prisons, courts and visits, but today the occupation wants to bring back the suffering to the family by re-arresting Mohammad.”
