The first day of “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation
Since the early morning hours, and with the beginning of the military operation "Al-Aqsa Flood" launched by the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military arm of the Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas" - which included the launching of rockets and missiles, in addition to land, sea and air crossing of settlements around the Gaza Strip, and the killing and capture of hundreds of Israelis, sporadic confrontations took place in the city of Jerusalem, and the persecution of its people began, with raids, beatings, and arrests.
Sirens sounded throughout Jerusalem, and explosions were heard in the city.
Confrontations broke out in Silwan, Shu’fat refugee camp, Al-Tur, Wadi Al-Joz, Issawiya, and Beit Hanina.
Young men blocked roads and streets with burning tires, and threw firecrackers and Molotov cocktails.
The forces fired sound bombs, rubber bullets, and gas bombs extensively during the confrontations, and used live bullets in the town of Silwan and the Shu’fat camp.
Eyewitnesses in Shu’fat refugee camp explained that two young men were injured during the clashes in the camp, in the chest and foot.
In Silwan, the forces arrested the young man Majd Al-A’war and the boy Yehya Al-Rajabi in the afternoon hours.
In the evening hours, the forces arrested and physically assaulted Majd Raoud, Alaa Ja’abis, and Mahmoud Ja’abis from Silwan, as explained by the lawyer of the Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem, Siraj Abu Arafeh.
In the Al-Sowaneh neighborhood, the forces stormed the neighborhood and confiscated the hanging Palestinian flags. The forces also fired rubber bullets at the residents.
On Al-Hariri Street in Jerusalem, the forces attacked a group of young women while they were in the area. They chased one of the young men and threw a sound bomb and a rubber bullet at his vehicle.
In the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, the forces stormed the area and assaulted a group of young men while they were in front of their homes. They arrested the young man, Mohammad Doleh, and then released him on the condition of house arrest for 5 days, and a cash bail of 1,000 shekels, in addition to withdrawing his vehicle license and a traffic ticket worth 1,000 shekels.
In the evening hours, the forces arrested a young woman, assaulted her, and subjected her to a search while she was at the light rail station in the neighborhood, and the settlers also attempted to assault her.
In the streets of the Old City of Jerusalem, and at its gates, forces were deployed in large numbers, arresting young men and boys, detaining some for several minutes, conducting field investigations with them, and severely beating some.
From the Damascus Gate area, the forces arrested two young men and severely beat one of them.
On Street No. 1, which separates the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, Al-Musrara, and the Damascus Gate area, hundreds of settlers gathered in the area, and forces deployed and prevented the settlers from advancing and storming the streets of Jerusalem.
The forces arrested 3 young men from the town of Beit Hanina; Amjad Al-Wa’ri, Mohammad Zyadeh, and Issa Zyadeh.
