Day 19: Al-Aqsa Flood Operation in the city of Jerusalem
On the 19th day of Al-Aqsa Flood Operation, the occupation municipality displaced two families, and settlers attacked the people of Al-Sowaneh with stones, while the siege of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City continued, and arrests and raids continued on towns and neighborhoods in Jerusalem.
Demolition and displacement
This morning, municipal bulldozers stormed the house of Ishaq Abu Jibneh in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in the city of Jerusalem, and implemented a decision to demolish parts of it (30 meters), in addition to demolishing an outdoor room belonging to his uncle.
The young man, Ishaq Abu Jibneh, explained that bulldozers, municipal crews, and members of the special forces stormed his house in the morning, under the pretext of a demolition decision. He confirmed that he had submitted a request to freeze the decision, and with the ongoing war and the state of emergency, the courts are not working for this matter.
Abu Jibneh added that the forces stormed the house and demanded that he leaves it immediately. When he asked the officer to enter to wake up his wife, the officer refused, and the police dogs attacked him and he was forcefully removed, and a large force stormed the wife’s room while she was sleeping.
Abu Jibneh added that the forces stormed the entire house and demolished part of it, an area of 30 meters (the kitchen and the living room), and the rest of the house was vandalized, and the closets and beds were searched, and even the bathroom was searched.
He added that the house has been standing for 12 years, and five people live in it. He was fined over the past years, and the family was also forced to demolish “the bricks and an outside room.” Several years later, the municipality returned again to pursue the young man, Ishaq, with a new demolition decision.
In Beit Hanina, north of Jerusalem, the municipality forced the young man, Ibrahim al-Malhi, to self-demolish his house, explaining that at midnight last night he demolished the house, and in the morning the municipality stormed the place and demanded that he demolish the walls again.
Al-Malhi added that he had to implement the demolition decision to avoid paying fines.
Al-Malhi pointed out that 3 people have been living in the house since it was built 6 years ago, and a fine of 55,000 shekels was imposed on it.
Al-Sowaneh…Settlers attack the neighborhood and the police suppress the residents
On Wednesday evening, settlers attacked the Al-Sowaneh neighborhood in Jerusalem with stones, and young men confronted them.
The forces stormed the neighborhood in large numbers and fired rubber bullets randomly.
The Red Crescent said that its crews dealt with 3 injuries in Al-Sowaneh, “2 with rubber bullets, 1 with beatings.”
A continuous siege
For the third week in a row, the occupation forces continued their siege of Al-Aqsa Mosque, by imposing restrictions on entry to it, searching all arrivals, checking identities, preventing young men from entering, and a police presence at its gates and the roads leading to it.
105 settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, through the Dung Gate, whose keys have been controlled by the occupation authorities since the occupation of Jerusalem.
The forces continue to deploy at the gates of the Old City, placing their checkpoints on them, deliberately stopping young men and women before they enter the Old City, preventing many young men from entering, and conducting physical searches of them in addition to field investigations.
A campaign against freed prisoners
The occupation forces, accompanied by tax crews, stormed the homes of freed prisoners in the Old City of Jerusalem.
The families explained that municipal crews photographed the houses and took their measurements, without classifying the reasons.
The municipality handed a demolition decision to the Al-Bashiti family - whose house is located at the Al-Majles Gate, one of the gates of Al-Aqsa – to demolish an outdoor sitting area in the courtyard of the house, which consists of iron columns and zinc rods.
The municipality also threatened to increase the “Arnona tax” on homes.
Among the families of the freed prisoners were “Al-Bashiti, Qos, Al-Rajabi, Najib, Al-Sukhon, Al-Kulghasi, Al-Bakri, and Ghaith.”
