Day 66: Al-Aqsa Flood Operation in the city of Jerusalem
December 11, 2023

On the 66th day of “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation, a comprehensive strike took place in the city of Jerusalem, and the siege of Al-Aqsa continued amid settlers’ incursions, while the incursions into Jerusalem’s towns and neighborhoods continued.

A general and comprehensive strike

Under the hashtag “Strike for Gaza”, a comprehensive strike took place in the city of Jerusalem and its towns and neighborhoods, at the call of national and Islamic forces, and activists from various parts of the world, for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, which continues for the third month in a row, and in rejection and denunciation of the American veto on the ceasefire resolution which was voted on at a session of the UN Security Council last week.

Shops were closed, as were most schools in the city.

The occupation forces were deployed in the streets of Jerusalem, especially at Damascus Gate, and checked the identities of journalists before allowing them to enter to film the “strike” in the Old City.

Al-Aqsa...incursions and siege

161 extremists stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, guarded by occupation forces, on the fourth day of the Jewish holiday of Lights/Hanukkah.

The settlers performed their prayers in Al-Aqsa Mosque, guarded by the occupation forces. Many of them also performed prayers at the gates of Al-Aqsa from the outside.

An armed settler performed his prayer at al-Qattaneen Gate - one of the gates of Al-Aqsa from the outside.

The occupation forces continue their tight siege on Al-Aqsa Mosque, preventing entry to it and imposing severe restrictions before allowing entry.

The Wadi Hilweh Information Center explained that the forces only allow a small number of people to enter Al-Aqsa, and most of them are elderly people and residents of the Old City.

At the gates of Al-Aqsa, forces are stationed and iron barriers are placed.

Arrests and raids

The forces' raids into the towns and neighborhoods of the city of Jerusalem continued, as did summonses, arrests, and the renewal of administrative detention against young men.

The occupation authorities transferred the Deputy Director of the Jerusalem Endowments, Sheikh Najeh Bkeirat, to administrative detention for a period of 4 months, and a session will be held tomorrow in the District Court to confirm the administrative detention.

Sheikh Bkeirat was arrested last weekend, from his place of residence in Bethlehem, after being deported from the city of Jerusalem for 6 months.

The occupation authorities renewed the administrative detention against the two young men, Rami Al-Fakhouri and Ziad Abu Hadwan, as they were scheduled to be released on Monday after they were transferred to administrative detention last October.

The forces also stormed the Shu’fat refugee camp and the town of Silwan, and randomly fired tear gas bombs.

The exchange deal...and the indictments!

In violation of the Israeli occupation government’s terms of the recently concluded exchange deals, the Prisoners’ Affairs Authority said that the occupation authorities held a trial session in absentia for the prisoner Hamada on Monday, at the Magistrate Court in Haifa, and the judge decided to request the freed prisoner to an upcoming session, in which she would attend, accompanied by her lawyer, to pronounce a sentence against her.

The commission added: “The invitation of the prisoner Hamada came with the judge’s claim that she committed violations during the years of her detention against the prison administration and police, and therefore she must be held accountable for them, without giving any consideration that she was released in an official exchange deal.”

The Commission confirmed that what happened in the Magistrate Court in Haifa constitutes a legal dilemma against the prisoner Hamada, and all those released in the exchange deals, as this reveals that their files are still circulating in the corridors of the Israeli courts, and must be taken into account.
