Day 67: Al-Aqsa Flood Operation in the city of Jerusalem
December 12, 2023

On the 67th day of “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation, the occupation forces carried out demolition operations in the town of Anata, and the strict siege on Al-Aqsa Mosque continued, amid widespread raids on it on the Jewish “Hanukkah” holiday. Arrests and raids also continued in the city.

Demolition of agricultural and animal facilities

On Tuesday morning, occupation forces and bulldozers stormed the town of Anata, and surrounded a “farm and barracks” belonging to the Hilwa family.

The Jerusalem Governorate explained that the demolition included “3 barracks,” each one with an area of 100 square meters and 30 beehives,” in addition to uprooting trees, demolishing the outer wall, and confiscating the contents of the barracks at a value of 30 thousand shekels.

Incursions into Al-Aqsa and an ongoing siege

311 settlers carried out their raids into Al-Aqsa Mosque, on the fifth day of the Hanukkah holiday, and they performed their prayers during the storming of the mosque, guarded by the occupation forces.

The forces continued their tight siege of Al-Aqsa, preventing entry to it except for the Islamic Endowment employees, the elderly, and most of the residents of the Old City.

The forces were deployed at the gates of Al-Aqsa, as well as at the gates of the Old City.

Freed prisoners and education

A session was held in the “Jerusalem Municipality/Education Department” for released prisoners in the “exchange deal” for “Ahmed Nawaf Al-Salaymeh, Mu’taz Khader Al-Salaymeh, and Mohammad Khalil Al-Salaymeh”, to discuss their return to their school seats and await a decision from the ministry to decide on their case.

The Israeli Ministry of Education said in a statement, “Until the end of the winter break (10/01/2024), the released students will not study in schools. After the winter break, there will be an individual examination of the necessary adjustments for each student, and the subject will be examined in a comprehensive manner.”

Last week, the Ministry of Education issued a circular to school administrations in Jerusalem affiliated with the municipality prohibiting the reception of students released in the exchange deal.

Opening of a police station in Silwan

The occupation police opened a center at Al-Ein Junction in the town of Silwan. The center consists of a two-story “caravan” that was installed in the middle of last October, and after it was prepared, it was opened today.

Raids and arrests

The raids on towns and neighborhoods in the city of Jerusalem continued, and the forces handed out summons to freed prisoners and carried out arrests, from Issawiya, Jabal Al-Mukabber, and Silwan.

Among those detained today is the writer and political analyst Rasem Obeidat, who was arrested after his office was stormed and searched.
