Day 69: Al-Aqsa Flood Operation in the city of Jerusalem
On the 69th day of “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation, two Jerusalemite families self-demolished their houses, by decision of the occupation municipality, and hundreds of settlers carried out their raids into Al-Aqsa amid the continued siege on it, and the raids on towns and neighborhoods in the city of Jerusalem continued.
Demolition and displacement
On Thursday evening, the Aweisat family began self-demolishing their two homes in the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber, by decision of the municipality, under the pretext of building without a permit.
The family explained that the first house has been built in 2019 and 4 people live in it, while the second was built in 2021 and 5 people live in it.
In Beit Hanina, the Obeidi family self-demolished their home and a barracks used for sheep, under the pretext of building without a permit.
The family explained that the house and barracks were built 5 months ago, while municipal crews stormed the place 10 days ago and photographed it, then returned and placed the demolition decision two days ago.
The family noted that 3 people live in the house, which is built of bricks.
In the morning hours, municipal bulldozers demolished a commercial facility in the village of Sur Baher, belonging to the Nimer family.
Al-Aqsa Mosque
366 settlers carried out their raids into Al-Aqsa Mosque, on the sixth day of the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah.
The settlers performed the prayers and rituals of the holiday, guarded by the occupation police.
The number of settlers who stormed Al-Aqsa during the days of Hanukkah (from Sunday to Thursday) reached 1,332 settlers, during which they lit Hanukkah candles on two consecutive days of the holiday.
The occupation authorities continued their tight siege on Al-Aqsa Mosque for the third month in a row, preventing entry to it except for the Islamic Endowment employees and the elderly.
The occupation forces continue to deploy at the gates of Al-Aqsa and the Old City of Jerusalem.
Raids and arrests
The raids on towns and neighborhoods in the city of Jerusalem continued, and separate arrests were carried out from: Issawiya, Kufor Aqab, Jabal Al-Mukabber, Shu’fat, and Silwan. Among the detainees was the political analyst and journalist Abdul Latif Ghaith.
Late on Thursday, the court released the political analyst and journalist Rasem Obeidat.
