Day 80: Al-Aqsa Flood Operation in the city of Jerusalem
December 25, 2023

On the 80th day of “Al-Aqsa Flood Operation”, the siege imposed on Al-Aqsa Mosque continued, while a Jerusalemite began self-demolishing his house in Shu’fat, and the raids on towns and neighborhoods in the city of Jerusalem continued.

Al-Aqsa Mosque...continuous siege and settler incursions

The occupation authorities continued their siege of Al-Aqsa Mosque, imposing restrictions on the entry of worshipers, and allowing small numbers to enter, most of whom were elderly people and women, amid “searching and identity checks” procedures at the gates.

The occupation authorities also continue to position themselves at the gates of Al-Aqsa and erect iron barriers.

On the other hand, 113 settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, through the Dung Gate, the keys of which have been controlled by the occupation authorities since the occupation of Jerusalem.

Self-demolition

In the town of Shu’fat, Hashem Al-Sabah began self-demolishing part of his house by decision of the occupation authorities, under the pretext of building without a permit.

Al-Sabah explained that he built the house in 2012, and the Ministry of Interior and Municipality began pursuing it with notifications and demolition decisions in 2016.

Al-Sabah added that the final demolition decision was issued in 2018, in addition to imposing a fine amounting to 29 thousand shekels on it.

He said: “I paid the fine, and the demolition has not been carried out since that time. At the end of last month, I was surprised that the demolition decision was placed again on the house, and accordingly I began carrying out the demolition to avoid paying new fines and prosecutions.”

In the village of Issawiya, joint crews from the municipality and police forces stormed the village’s neighborhoods, placed notices and summons to follow up with the municipality under the pretext of building without a license, and imposed random fines on residents and shop owners, as residents explained.

Raids

The occupation forces carried out raids into a number of neighborhoods and towns in Jerusalem, set up checkpoints in several streets, and carried out arrests in the Wadi al-Joz neighborhood in Jerusalem.
