Day 97: Jerusalem during “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation
January 11, 2024

On the 97th day of “Al-Aqsa Flood Operation”, hundreds of settlers carried out their raids into Al-Aqsa Mosque, amid a continuous siege on it, and the raids continued into towns and neighborhoods in the city of Jerusalem.

Extensive intrusions and prayers

371 settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, on the beginning of the Hebrew month, guarded by occupation forces.

The settlers carried out their raids on Al-Aqsa, in the form of successive groups, through the Dung Gate, whose keys have been controlled by the occupation authorities since the occupation of Jerusalem. They toured Al-Aqsa, performed their prayers during the raids, and performed prayers “for the dead soldiers and in support of the soldiers in the Gaza Strip.”

A group of settlers carried umbrellas bearing a picture of “a soldier killed in the Gaza Strip” and a picture of the Dome of the Rock, with the words “This is our victory.”

For the third month in a row, the occupation authorities continue to impose their siege on Al-Aqsa Mosque. The number of worshipers who are able to reach it is small, most of whom are elderly people and women, due to the restrictions imposed and the permanent presence of forces at all gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The forces also continue their deployment and presence in the streets of the Old City and at its gates.

Continuous raids

In the morning, the occupation forces, accompanied by municipal crews, stormed the Abu Tayeh neighborhood in the town of Silwan, and erased national slogans from the walls of the neighborhood.

Municipal crews also stormed the Sweih neighborhood in Silwan, and photographed the streets and some facilities.

In the evening hours, forces stormed Shu’fat refugee camp in large numbers and threw bombs randomly.

The occupation intelligence deported the freed prisoner, Amro Ma’touq, from the city of Jerusalem for 3 days.

The young man, Amro, was released after spending 6 and a half years in prison.

Yesterday, Wednesday, intelligence summoned members of the Ma’touq family.

The prison administration also released the young man Alaa Abu Eisheh after the end of his 7-year sentence; he is a resident of Kufor Aqab.
