Day 106: Jerusalem during “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation
January 20, 2024

On the 106th day of “Al-Aqsa Flood Operation,” the siege imposed on Al-Aqsa Mosque continued, and the Al-Halawani family Implemented the decision to “self-demolish a house” in the town of Silwan, while the forces attacked two lawyers and a young man with special needs on Salah Al-Din Street.

Al-Aqsa Mosque...the siege continues

The siege of Al-Aqsa Mosque continues for the 16th week in a row, by having a police presence at all gates, setting up iron barricades, stopping visitors to check their identities and place of residence, and allowing a small number of Muslims to enter, most of whom are elderly people and women, and in many cases it is stipulated that the place of residence be the “Old City” in order to allow entry.

In a meeting with a number of worshipers, they explained that the measures taken at the gates of Al-Aqsa vary from time to time and from one gate to another, and they are all subject to “the mood of the officer stationed at the gate,” restrictions and obstacles to anyone trying to enter Al-Aqsa, and a ban on young men in particular.

Self-demolition

The municipality forced the Al-Halawani family to self-demolish their house in the Ras Al-Amoud neighborhood, under the pretext of building without a permit.

The young man, Samir Al-Halawani, built the house to get married in it, and he started construction 5 months ago. During this period, the municipality stormed the place several times, and a month ago it issued an administrative demolition decision for the house, so he was forced to demolish it, in order to avoid paying “the demolition fees to the municipality crews, forces, and accompanying vehicles.”

Assault

Special forces assaulted a young man with special needs after stopping him in Salah al-Din Street. When two lawyers tried to intervene to find out what was going on, the forces detained them and forced the lawyer to delete the footage documenting the assault incident.

The two lawyers confirmed that they will follow up on what happened and submit the complaint to the competent authorities.

The forces also continue to spread and be present in the streets of Jerusalem and in the neighborhoods and towns of the city.

At dawn, forces stormed the town of Silwan and arrested a boy after storming his house.
