Day 128: Jerusalem during “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation
February 11, 2024

On the 128th day of "Al-Aqsa Flood Operation", a Palestinian youth was injured after being shot in the Old City of Jerusalem, and a session was held in the District Court "to consider the ownership of the "Al-Khandaq/Souq Al-Juma'a" land, and the siege imposed on Al-Aqsa Mosque continued amid incursions by settlers into it.

The Israeli occupation forces opened fire at a young Palestinian man, in Al-Wad Street in the Old City of Jerusalem, under the pretext of his attempt to "carry out a stabbing attack."

The police said in a statement that the young man tried to carry out a stabbing attack against its members.

The forces closed the place of the shooting, and prevented access to the place, while the forces spread out at the gates of the Old City, and closed some of them and prevented entry or exit from them.

A session for the “Al-Khandaq/Souq Al-Juma'a" land

The District Court held a session to discuss the case of the “Al-Khandaq/Souq Al-Juma'a" land, located along the northeastern side of the wall of the Old City, and demanded that the owners of the land "issue a restraining order inside the land".

Lawyer Sami Arshid explained that the “Jerusalem Development Authority and the Israeli Natura and Parks Authority and Israel Lands Authority" claim that the piece of land belongs to "the State of Israel" and not to the families of "Owais, Atallah and Hamad."

During the lengthy hearing, the lawyer Arshid demanded the continued presence of the landowners there, and the prohibition of the work and entry of the "Jerusalem Development Authority" to carry out any work inside it.

The "Jerusalem Development Authority and the Israeli Nature and Parks Authority and the Lands of Israel" demanded from the court, to allow them to work immediately inside the land "because it is ready to do the excavation and restoration work to turn the land into a park", stressing that no decision “to stop any work” has been issued by the court.

Lawyer Arshid explained that the court, after hearing the allegations from both parties, will issue its decision, and in the case it allows the Israeli entities to operate inside the land, there will be a possibility to refer to the Supreme Court.

Arshid said: "The various authorities are trying to take away the ownership of the families of 'Owais, Hamad, Atallah" by force.”

Al-Aqsa Mosque

The occupation authorities continued to impose restrictions on worshipers' entry to Al-Aqsa, for the fourth month in a row, by setting up police checkpoints at all gates and stopping those entering it and preventing young men and women in particular from entering it, and often the elderly are not spared from the obstruction and detention.

The settlers' incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque continued, and 194 settlers carried out their incursions into Al-Aqsa "on the occasion of the beginning of the Hebrew month", and the settlers performed their prayers in Al-Aqsa.

Raids

The raids into the towns and neighborhoods of the city of Jerusalem continued, the roadblocks were set up randomly, and the vehicles and youths were stopped.

The occupation authorities renewed the administrative detention of the young man Majid al-Jo’beh for 4 months.
