Day 156: Jerusalem during “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation
On the 156th day of "Al-Aqsa Flood Operation", the occupation authorities imposed strict restrictions on the entry of worshipers to Al-Aqsa to perform the "Taraweeh prayer for the first night of Ramadan", and settlers vandalized vehicle tires in the Al-Sowaneh neighborhood in Jerusalem, and the incursions into the towns and neighborhoods in the city of Jerusalem continued.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center – Jerusalem explained that the occupation forces with their various elements were deployed at all the gates of the Old City and the Al-Aqsa Mosque and on the roads leading to it, and stopped those heading to Al-Aqsa, especially the young men and women and even the children, and prevented them from entering Al-Aqsa to perform the Ishaa and Taraweeh prayers.
The information center monitored the pursuit of the young men in the alleys of the Old City and at its gates and Al-Aqsa entrances, forcibly removing them from it after preventing them from entering, and assaulting some of them by pushing and beating them with batons.
The center explained that hundreds of worshipers performed the Ishaa and Taraweeh prayers at the thresholds of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City and on the road to the Yusufiya Cemetery, and the forces were present in the vicinity of the prayers.
The young men explained that the officers told them while they were standing waiting to enter Al-Aqsa…” Young men should not wait, they will not be allowed to enter. All young men must leave the place", and the forces threatened the young men with arrest if they did not leave the area.
The measures that were taken today and the prohibition that were imposed on hundreds of young men, are an extension of the continuous restrictions on worshipers entering Al-Aqsa since the first day of the war.
A week ago, Israeli intelligence summoned dozens of young men and women from Jerusalem and the Palestinian 1948 lands for investigation at the "Al-Qishleh" police station in the Old City of Jerusalem, and handed them orders to expel them from Al-Aqsa for a week with the possibility of renewal for several months.
Settlers’ incursions
On Sunday, 288 settlers broke into Al-Aqsa Mosque, on the eve of the "Hebrew month", at the invitation of the "alleged Temple" groups, and rabbis and officials from the "Temple organizations and groups" participated in the break-ins.
The settlers led their prayers during the storming of Al-Aqsa.
Al-Sowaneh neighborhood
In the Al-Sowaneh neighborhood in Jerusalem, the residents were surprised this morning by the slashing of their vehicle tires, and the residents explained that settlers from the "Beit Ort" settlement in the neighborhood attacked the houses of the residents with stones and curses on Saturday night, and said: "This morning we woke up to the destruction of the tires of about 10 vehicles in the neighborhood, and the police came to the scene and investigated and photographed the vehicles."
Arrests under the pretext of "illegal entry"
The Israeli police said in a statement that they arrested 1,209 Palestinians under the pretext of "entering and residing illegally in Jerusalem", in addition to arresting 433 suspects who moved them, provided them with accommodation and employed them, since the beginning of this year.
