March 28, 2024

On the 174th day of "Al-Aqsa Flood Operation", dozens of settlers carried out their incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the incursions and arrests continued in the city of Jerusalem.

Settler incursions

On Thursday, 255 settlers carried out their incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, through the Dung Gate, whose keys have been controlled by the occupation authorities since the occupation of Jerusalem.

The settlers performed prayers during the storming of Al-Aqsa, guarded by the police.

Thursday was the last of the settlers' incursions into the month of Ramadan, as the police announced on Wednesday the stopping of incursions for 16 days, “the rest of the month of Ramadan and the days of Eid al-Fiter", and the "temple groups" protested the decision and demanded that Al-Aqsa not be closed in the face of the incursions, and one of the settlers prayed and prostrated on the ground demanding this.

I’tikaf in Al-Aqsa

The director of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Omar Al-Kiswani, announced the start of I'tikaf in Al-Aqsa Mosque, from Thursday night until the end of the month of Ramadan, explaining that the night prayer (Qiyam Al-Leil) will be held at 1:30 a.m.

Tens of thousands of worshipers continued to flock to Al-Aqsa on the 17th day of Ramadan, to perform prayers and participate in religious circles and listen to religious lessons and read the Qur'an, and 120,000 worshippers performed the Ishaa and Taraweeh prayers, as explained by the Islamic Endowment Department.

The police also continued to station themselves at all the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque and on its roads.

Raids and arrests

The forces continued their raids on a number of towns and neighborhoods in the city of Jerusalem, and randomly set up police checkpoints in the streets, as well as carrying out various arrests of girls and boys.

The forces arrested Ms. Amal Barghouth - the wife of the prisoner, lawyer Tarek Barghouth - on the pretext of entering Jerusalem “illegally because she carries a West Bank identity", as explained by Mohammad Mahmoud, a lawyer at the Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem.

The Israeli authorities also renewed the administrative detention of Rami Al-Fakhouri for two months, noting that he was arrested in October and transferred to administrative detention.
