Day 235 Jerusalem during “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation
May 28, 2024

On the 235th day of "Al-Aqsa Flood Operation", the occupation municipality's vehicles carried out demolition operations in the village of Issawiya and in Silwan, and raids on towns and neighborhoods in the city of Jerusalem continued, and settlers also continued their raids on Al-Aqsa.

Demolition and displacement

In the morning hours, the occupation municipality crews, accompanied by vehicles and a large force of police and special units, stormed the village of Issawiya, and after besieging a commercial “printing” establishment and spreading around it, bulldozers demolished it.

The Alayan family explained that they had recently emptied the contents of the printing press and demolished most of the building, and were surprised today by storming the place and completing the process of demolishing some walls and fences.

The municipality had imposed a fine on the family amounting to "48 thousand shekels", and the family is paying it to this day.

In the town of Silwan, the occupation forces, accompanied by municipal crews and vehicles, stormed residential apartments belonging to Ismail Sa’adeh “Al-Halhouli”, and ordered the families living in the three apartments to evacuate them immediately to implement the demolition decision, refusing for the family to carry out the demolition despite bringing the “bulldozer” in order to avoid paying the demolition costs.

The Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem learned that the residential apartments were built between 2005 and 2011, and the total area is 160 square meters. In recent years, the municipality had notified the apartment that was built in 2011, and suddenly issued demolition decisions for the entire building, without the possibility of licensing it, noting that the family went to the District Court to freeze the decision, but to no avail.

Municipality crews also filmed the demolition of shops belonging to the freed prisoner, Imad Abeesan, in the Ein al-Lozeh neighborhood, who implemented the decision yesterday evening, in order to avoid paying fines and demolition fees to the municipality.

Arrest

The forces stormed the village of Issawiya at dawn and arrested two children, and after several hours they released them.

The court issued a 15-month prison sentence against the young man, Youssef Salti, from the Wadi al-Joz neighborhood, noting that he was arrested at the beginning of this year.

Settlers incursions

Dozens of settlers carried out their raids on Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the number of those storming Al-Aqsa during the morning and afternoon raids reached 165 extremist settlers and Jewish students, and they performed prayers during the storming of Al-Aqsa.

Among the intruders were families of Israeli prisoners in Gaza, and they prayed for the liberation of their children, and the alleged Temple groups stressed the necessity of praying at Al-Aqsa for the prisoners in Gaza, “as it is the holy place for the Jews.”

Demonstration at the Hebrew University in support of Gaza

At the Hebrew University in Mount Scopus, students organized a sit-in inside the university in rejection of the war, genocide, and daily massacres in the Gaza Strip.
