July 24, 2024

On the 292nd day of "Al-Aqsa Flood Operation", demolitions continued in the city of Jerusalem, and settlers continued their storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque, while forces continued their raiding towns and neighborhoods in the city.

Demolition and displacement

The occupation municipality forced the Jerusalemite, Musa Salama, to self-demolish his house in the town of Silwan, under the pretext of building without a permit.

The municipality recently issued the demolition decision, and during the last week it demanded that the family implement the decision, otherwise its crews and equipment would do so, and a "financial fine/demolition fee" would be imposed on the family.

Salama explained that the municipality and police crews stormed his house and forced them to carry out the demolition immediately, "the apartment, the fences and dismantling everything in the place," and after the demolition, the municipality gave them two weeks to clean the place of rubble. Salama explained that the area of his house is 170 square meters, and 7 people live in it, and during the past years he was fined "building without a permit" in the amount of 500 thousand shekels. In the town of At-Tur, the municipality crews, accompanied by forces, stormed the town of At-Tur, closed the "New Street" and spread out around a residential building, to carry out the demolition operation for the property of the Abu Sbitan family.

The family explained that the forces demolished the top floor, "the roof", by dismantling the ceiling with a crane.

The family said that this is the third time that the municipality has demolished the same building, noting that the family had put a zinc roof due to rainwater.

The family added that the municipality refuses to issue them a building permit.

Al-Aqsa... raids and threats

Ministers and members of the Knesset held a conference "to discuss imposing sovereignty over Al-Aqsa" entitled "Israel's return to the Temple Mount".

The Internal Security Minister Itamar Ben Gavir said: "I am the political level, and the political level allows Jews to pray on the Temple Mount".

Ben Gavir added during the conference that Al-Aqsa Mosque is undergoing a change, we all understand what I am talking about, what should be said calmly will be said calmly.

He said: "I was on the Temple Mount," referring to his storming of Al-Aqsa several days ago, "I prayed there, we pray inside it."

The conference was scheduled to be held on June 2nd, the eve of the anniversary of the occupation of Jerusalem according to the Hebrew calendar, but it was postponed at the time.

The settlers continued their storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and 149 settlers carried out the storming of Al-Aqsa during the morning and afternoon incursion periods.

The police arrested a girl in the afternoon hours from Al-Aqsa.

Detaining martyrs’ bodies

On the other hand, the lawyer of the Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem, Mohammad Mahmoud, said that for the second time, the Public Prosecution requested the Supreme Court to extend the deadline for it to respond to the petition submitted to demand the release of the bodies of the martyrs Ali Al-Abbasi and Abdul Rahman Faraj until 18/8/2024 under the pretext of "the war on Gaza", noting that the previous deadline from the court ends tomorrow.

Al-Abbasi and Faraj were martyred on 10/10/2023 during clashes that broke out in the town of Silwan, and the lawyer submitted a petition to the Supreme Court at the end of last April to hand over the bodies of the two martyrs to their families and not bury them in the cemeteries.

The forces also continued to arrest Palestinians holding West Bank IDs, under the pretext of entering the city illegally.
