Day 301 Jerusalem during “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation
On the 301st day of "Al-Aqsa Flood Operation", the occupation authorities imposed restrictions on the entry of worshipers to Al-Aqsa Mosque to perform Friday prayers, while they arrested the imam and preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, and continued to storm neighborhoods and towns in the city of Jerusalem.
Al-Aqsa... Continuous Restrictions
The occupation authorities continued to impose restrictions on the entry of worshipers to Al-Aqsa Mosque to perform Friday prayers, and the forces set up checkpoints on the roads leading to Al-Aqsa, and placed iron barriers at the gates of Al-Aqsa and the Old City, and stopped those coming to it, and prevented young men and boys from entering, as well as a number of women.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem, met a number of those who were prevented from entering Al-Aqsa, and they said: "Without reason and randomly, we are stopped at the gates of Al-Aqsa or the gates of the Old City, especially "Lions Gate", and after searching us and threatening us verbally and deliberately provoking us, the policeman orders us to stay away from the gates of Al-Aqsa and we are prevented from entering it to perform prayers." They added: "These restrictions - even if they are less severe - are similar to the first days of the war, with young men and boys and many women prevented from entering. The restrictions increase every Friday, and young men are beaten or arrested if they try to enter."
They explained that the forces from time to time - especially when the sermon is being delivered and the time for prayer is approaching - remove the young men collectively from the gates of Al-Aqsa and walk with them until they reach outside the Old City.
The Islamic Endowments Department estimated the number of worshipers for Friday prayers at 30,000 worshipers.
During the Friday sermon, the Friday preacher mourned Sheikh Ismail Haniyeh, and they performed the funeral prayer in absentia for him in Al-Aqsa.
Sheikh Ekrima Sabri arrested…and threatened to withdraw his residency
The forces arrested Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, the imam and preacher of -Aqsa Mosque, after storming his home in Al-Sowaneh neighborhood in Jerusalem.
The forces took Sheikh Sabri to the Al-Maskobyeh Police Station "Rooms 4" in West Jerusalem, and the investigation and detention continued for 5 hours, then he was released on condition that he be expelled from Al-Aqsa for a week with the possibility of renewing it.
Sheikh Sabri explained that the investigation with him focused on the mourning of Sheikh Ismail Haniyeh, and said: "Several charges were directed at me during the investigation: "treason against the state, terrorism, membership in an illegal organization," and the investigation focused on the mourning of Sheikh Haniyeh in Al-Aqsa The Sheikh responded to that by saying, “The mourning is a religious matter and a supplication, and supplication is a verse from the Qur’an. The mourning does not mean support for the person who was mourned, or opposition to him, as the investigator asked him about the word ‘martyr’ and the reason for mentioning it.”
The investigator also asked him about the reason for the "prayer's Takbeers", and Sheikh Sabri confirmed that the prayer and the worshipers prayed in Al-Aqsa and left it and there were no noteworthy incidents.
The Sheikh confirmed during the investigation that he has been preaching in Al-Aqsa for 51 years.
At the end of the investigation, the occupation authorities handed him a decision to ban him from entering Al-Aqsa for a week with the possibility of renewing it, and the Sheikh confirmed his rejection of the ban and that he refused to sign it.
The Minister of Interior, Moshe Arbel, demanded that Sheikh Ekrima Sabri's residency be revoked, under the pretext of "committing security violations and breach of trust", for his mourning of Sheikh Ismail Haniyeh in Al-Aqsa, who is one of the most prominent officials responsible for the events of "October 7".
The request stated that "Article 11A of the Entry into Israel Law grants the Minister of Interior the authority to cancel a permanent residency permit for committing an act that constitutes "breach of trust", asking the legal advisor to help him complete the procedures for revoking Sheikh Sabri's residency.
The Minister of National Security in the occupation government, Itamar Ben Gavir, demanded that the Public Prosecution open an immediate investigation with Sheikh Sabri, and after about an hour, the Public Prosecution agreed to open an immediate investigation with Sheikh Sabri, after examining the "Friday sermon."
The settlers and various organizations also called for bombing Sheikh Sabri's house and expelling him from Jerusalem. They published pictures of the Sheikh's house and identified its location.
